Journal 03: the States Tony Hoaglands song America uses specific nouns and metaphors to elevate readers that America is too haunt with material objects and self-satis particularion. Hoagland uses these nouns and metaphors to hide righteousness from the naked eye, specific phraseology is also used in combination with these metaphors to expose decadency in American society.
